The host connects so the app can load their question library and save game checkpoints and archived history in hidden app data.
How it works
Only the host connects. Everyone gets to play.
New rooms combine an expiring live service with hidden storage in the host’s Google Drive. Each room is one expandable game: guests can come back, the host can add questions, and nobody needs to finish in one sitting.
The game flow
Join simply. Keep playing. Archive deliberately.
The live room keeps everyone in sync, even while the host is away. When the host reconnects, their browser updates the private Drive checkpoint.
Start one game that can grow
Only the host connects Google. The starting questions are shuffled once, then keep their order as the host adds more over time.
Join without an account
Players use a link or room code and a display name. Their device remembers a safe dashboard shortcut, and a private one-time return link can restore the same seat on another device.
Choose Together or Own Pace
Together keeps everyone on the same question, with private answers and a shared reveal. Own Pace lets each player move independently and revisit earlier answers.
Get caught up, then add more
Answering every available question means caught up, not finished. The host can add more, or let players suggest questions or add them directly.
Archive when the game is truly over
The host’s browser saves active checkpoints to hidden Drive data. Archive closes live play and preserves the final history there.
Where the data goes
Temporary for the room. Durable for the host.
Live play needs one shared coordinator, so the active room holds just the game state everyone needs. The host’s browser checkpoints active progress and saves the final archive in hidden Drive storage.
The honest privacy boundary: live names, questions, and answers pass through the room service until they expire. The reveal rules prevent players from seeing one another’s choices early, but the room is not peer-to-peer or end-to-end encrypted.
The room service keeps
Live play with a clear expiry.
- The ordered questions and display names needed by the room.
- Answers, progress, and question suggestions while the game is active.
- A visible 90-day inactivity countdown that refreshes with activity.
- No Google password, Drive token, or durable guest account.
The host keeps
Questions, checkpoints, and history.
- A reusable question library in hidden Drive app data.
- A private checkpoint updated after the host reconnects.
- Accepted player ideas saved for later games when the host chooses.
- A final history saved when the host chooses Archive.
